Event Description

Year 6 Music Information Evening & Instrument Demonstrations

MacKellar Hall

Time

6:00pm - 7:00pm

Date

Monday, October 19, 2026

Scotch Music is delighted to host an information evening and instrument demonstration session for all year six (2027) students.

In Year 6, every student learns a musical instrument as part of the College’s Year 6 Music Programme. Subsidised by the College, the Year 6 music curriculum is delivered in the context of a traditional band programme. The course provides students with an engaging introduction to ensemble playing, while developing musicianship, confidence, creativity and the enjoyment of making music together.

Students will be introduced to a range of instruments from the brass, woodwind and percussion families, as well as electric bass and double bass.

To introduce current Year 5 students and their parents/guardians to the instruments and the Year 6 Music Programme, we invite you to our Information Evening and Instrument Demonstrations.

The evening will feature live demonstrations of the available instruments, a performance by our Concert Band, and the opportunity to meet our Music Faculty staff and senior student leaders. Students and parents will be able to hear and experience the different instruments, learn more about the programme and ask questions about how instrument preferences and allocations are managed.

We look forward to sharing the excitement of music-making and giving our Year 5 students a glimpse of the musical experiences that await them in Year 6.

Arrival from 5:45pm. Presentation commences at 6pm sharp.
