Event Description

State Schools Surfing Titles (Finals)

Scarborough Beach

Time

7:00am - 4:00pm

Date

Friday, August 29, 2025

The Scotch College surfing team will be competing in the Metro Round of the State Schools Surfing Titles on Wed 20 Aug and, based on the results, in the Finals on Fri 29 Aug (details to be confirmed following the Metro Round).

Competitors should refer to information from Mr Rugg re where to meet on the day. Parents are responsible for transport home.

The Titles consist of four separate events: a Junior and Senior Body Board competition, and a Junior and Senior Surfing competition. Each event includes three competitors and one reserve. This will be a tag-team event. New on the menu is a super heat in place of the Long Board event.

One of the pleasing aspects of this competition is that the students not only gain experience in competition surfing, but are also taught how to judge a surfing event. Therefore it is very important that competitors remain at the beach until the end of the competition, that is, until both their surfing and judging commitments are fulfilled. It is a requirement of the competition that all students participate in judging. The Co-Captains will run this aspect of the competition.

Competitors should bring warm clothes for the early start and energy top-up food, as well as warm, wind/waterproof clothing.

Scotch College has a proud tradition of involvement in surfing, and family and friends are welcome at fixtures to support our students.

Parents are reminded to ensure your son’s medical and emergency contact details are up to date by visiting Seqta Engage on home.scotch.
