After winning through both their regional and national qualifier in the global STEM/Robotics programme of First Lego League Challenge, the Brick Builders team will be representing Australia against 50 other teams from 50 different countries at the Open European Championships in Norway from 9 May - 20 May. Students have spent the past year working on developing a product to help people with low or no vision and have had visits and consultations with VisAbility WA, Young Entrepreneurs Showcase and finally showcased their latest model at the WA Museum Boola Bardip on the school holidays to rave reviews from the public. Furthermore, these boys have worked with John Curtin College of the Arts and a range of primary schools within their catchment to demonstrate what First Lego League is all about whilst helping them delve into developing their skills in innovation and problem-solving. They will be flying off to Bodø in Norway to showcase their product as well as showcasing their engineering and programming skills against all these teams with their robot (named BB8). They will finish their tour by parading through the town, with the rest of the competing teams, waving the Australian flag on Norway’s Constitutional Day on our last day of the tour.
