The da Vinci Decathlon is an academic team competition set around competing in ten events that require collaboration, problem solving and higher-order thinking. The da Vinci Decathlon began in 2002 as an exciting offshoot of the very successful da Vinci Program for gifted and talented students The Decathlon is designed to celebrate the academic gifts of Australian youth by providing a stimulating and challenging competition run in the spirit of an Olympic Decathlon.
The 10 disciplines are: engineering, mathematics, code breaking, art and poetry, science, English, ideation, creative producers, cartography and legacy.
When: Monday 8 May (Week 3 of Autumn Term)
Where: Winthrop Hall, University of Western Australia, 35 Stirling Highway, Crawley
Time: 8.15am - 3.30pm
Transport: Parents to drop off and collect
Dress: Winter uniform
This year we ask that students are dropped off and collected directly from Winthrop Hall. A map of the venue and parking is attached.
Parents are welcome from 3pm to watch the proceedings and the presentation ceremony.

Key details regarding stationery and food/drink are as follows:
Allowable student stationery requirements
- Standard Pens, pencils, rulers (No gel/glitter pens etc)
- Stapler (one per team)
- Scissors
- Protractors
- Glue Stick
- Art supplies - only crayons, pastels, coloured pencils, textas
- Roll of sticky tape (one per team)
- Basic or Scientific Calculators only (No class pads allowed)
No electronic devices, including watches that connect to the internet, are allowed on the Tournament floor. No other items can be brought onto the Tournament floor.
Food and drink recommendations
- Water bottle
- Recess and lunch
- A small quantity of wrapped lollies may be consumed on the Tournament floor. No messy foods such as crisps or cakes etc. are to be taken onto the Tournament floor.
If your son is unwell on the day of competition, please email me as soon as possible to allow time to source a reserve.
