The Year 8 Spring Term Programme involves a five-night, six-day adventure in the Great Southern region of Western Australia. Students will work with a variety of outdoor specialists including the College's Outdoor Learning Department.
Walpole and Denmark are two of only 34 biodiversity hotspots in the world. This environment provides a unique learning experience for our Year 8 cohort. Both areas are renowned for their pristine natural landscapes, majestic tingle trees and stunning coastlines. Students will be experiencing these landscapes through a variety of different activities such as hiking, canoeing, surfing, and an eco tour during the week-long expedition. Students will have the opportunity to reflect and use skills taught through the Turas Programme as they prepare to begin their transition into Senior School.
We would like to pay our respects and acknowledge the environment we will be moving through during this programme as the lands of the Minang and Bibbulmun peoples.

Medical Information (to be updated by Monday 9 October please)
This medical update can be done via EdSmart. If your son has any pertinent medical or dietary information, please share with Katelyn.guy@scotch.wa.edu.au
Your accurate completion of the College medical form will enable us to provide the best possible experience for your son. Should your son feel anxious about participating, please know that our experienced staff deal with such issues regularly. It is good to speak to your son about this, letting him know that it is normal to feel nervous and excited about new experiences. You can reassure your son by letting him know that staff are always looking out for the students and perhaps ask him to consider the positives that will come from this experience.
For the wellbeing of fellow students and staff, should your son show any signs or symptoms of illness, or have contact with others who may be ill, in the week prior to the programme, his attendance should be discussed with the Outdoor Learning staff and Mr Brad Gill.
Should your son be unable to attend this expedition with his House, he will be expected to attend school as usual. In the unlikely event that your son should become ill or unable to participate in the expedition during the programme, you will be notified and asked to collect him from Denmark. Should you need to contact your son during the week please contact Middle School reception.
